Greetings Customers & Friends,
I am pleased to welcome Stacey Jones to our management team here at Parkerville. I first met Stacey last May when she came in to interview for a job that we had posted. She was overqualified for that position, but I was confident that our growth in the near term would allow us to add her to our team in the not-too-distant future. We stayed in touch, met a few times, and finally came to terms. Stacey officially joined Parkerville in mid-February. Before coming to work here, Stacey was the operations manager for Hood Distribution in Durum, CT. Hood is one of our vendors and is a major distributor of commercial and industrial building materials. Formerly having a facility in Manchester on New State Rd., Hood purchased Leonard Lumber in Durham, Connecticut, which was a hardwood lumber wholesaler, and consolidated their operations there. Stacey was instrumental in Hood’s capital investment in setting up their new hardwood lumber mill. Hood has 16 distribution hubs in the U.S, 15 east of the Mississippi, and one in Arizona. Stacey’s career spanned 21 years working for Hood. Stacey is also an industrial safety expert and trainer. Safety is always first. She will be a great asset for Parkerville. Stacey’s primary role will be to manage the day-to-day operations here at PWP, allowing me to focus on long term growth / expansion and capital investments.
Another significant project that we are taking on here at Parkerville is updating our operating software. We have been using QuickBooks which last year discontinued their point-of-sale software and has stopped supporting the product. After an extensive search we selected a product that is designed for our (broad) industry and then custom tailored specifically to our operation. We are in the early stages of building the system with a go live date in the third quarter of this year. We have a good team working on the transition so we hope it is seamless.
Although we have been a little slow with production, we have a heavy work load on our horizon. Two of our larger projects at Marist College and UMASS Worchester have construction delays preventing us from starting. I think we will be scrambling in about 3 weeks. We just purchased a large Martin shaper which should be up and running within a couple of weeks which will be a great addition to our solid wood milling department.
We have new inventory arriving weekly. Please stop in for a visit and let us show you around.
I hope to see you at the shop.
Sincerely,
David Harris, President
